Explanation
O Lord Shiva Shankar, Master of Kailash, playing the beats on the damru. You are the Lord Himself who awakens people who are sleeping for ages. Praise be unto Him.  -  On His forehead there is the mark of the tilak and the moon. He wears a garland of snakes and is the protector of all creation. Lord Shiva dances to the rhythm of the damru and destroys the sufferings of His dear devotees.  -  The Ganga flows from His matted hair. He removes the difficulties of this world. He quenches the thirst of the earth that satisfies the creatures. He showers His grace upon the world.  -  

His name is most auspicious and gives powers and vibrations to those who chant His name incessantly. The name of Lord Shiva transgresses the oceans of the world and protects our minds from attachment and illusion.
